Appreciation and self-love are the most important tools that you could ever nurture. Appreciation of others, and the appreciation of yourself is the closest vibrational match to your Source Energy of anything that we've ever witnessed anywhere in the Universe.

---Abraham

Hello Blogger,

I am really trying not to start all of my blogs with 'sorry, I haven't been able to blog...' I know it sounds like an excuse, but I have generally been unable to blog.

As I have blogged before, not because my favourite nudges from spirit haven't happened, but because I haven't written them down.

The coincidental numbers, animals, crowing birds, wrong telephone numbers and all sorts of amazing messages which have come to me directly, have still carried on. As usual, I have been reminded that the clearer our own channel, the easier it is for us to notice the signs and messages from spirit.

A lovely poem I have been given. So, to share it with you blogger, here it is:

Share the Joy
by
John Ryan

Each human life's a Universe
Complete in its own right.
We hold within the tools we need
To help us fight the fight,
To walk the walk and talk the talk,
Just look within, you'll see
That all souls are connected,
And set your spirit free.

For once we know the soul lives on,
When earthly life is done,
That fear of death just melts away.
Our new life has begun.
Our loved ones wait for us on high,
They're near us every day.
We have to pass this message on,
As we go on our way.

I do this in my daily life,
And when some people feel
There must be something more to life.
I tell them spirit's real.
I do it to bring comfort,
And share my sense of peace.
Belief in life eternal
Brings all of us release.

The trials of the material world
Are something we must bear,
But joy and hope can reach us all,
That's something we can share.
Please search within to find yourself,
And you'll find God there too.
And share the joy with all the world,
It's what we're here to do.

Being asked for directions and a chicken called Daisy

It is the little things which keep me going blogger. You know, the little patterns in my life which I have given meaning to and they show up when I need them the most.

The things like...being asked for directions, being called the wrong name, having a wrong number dialled on my phone, those little things which remind me of spiritual matters. Well, this has been a challenging week insofar as there has been a big gaping hole where my career/studies ought to be and I have been walking in circles.

So, I was pleased to have a wrong number on my phone. A little reminder I haven't been forgotten by the Universe. Walking to work on a Saturday afternoon, feeling uncertain as to whether I would be on the refund counter and how I would get on at work when a man stumbled towards me, he was wearing a karate outfit on one of the hottest days ever recorded in September, he asked me for directions. He wanted to know where a road was at least two miles away, did I know it? Yes, I did, I offered him directions and the interaction lifted my spirits.

I didn't manage the next stage of the interaction. I have promised myself to always enter into conversation with anyone asking me for directions, you know, so we can uncover any further link between us or between their reason for visiting a place I know well. But, as I say, I was on my way to work and my thoughts and feelings weren't in the best place to be thinking of coincidental matters. So, I gave him directions and went on my way. I headed to work, I had a challenging afternoon and one of the big bosses came down for a day visit. Everyone at work was on their best behaviour. Turns out, the big boss recognised me as someone he has seen at Westcliff Casino!  Bearing in mind I haven't been down there for over a year, I was really amazed that he would remember me. It also made my afternoon a little easier.

Scroll forward a few days and I find myself sitting in the Spiritualist Church, on the Wednesday afternoon. Yes, I got a message, the medium gave me the name Mary, and a painting. I explained that I had been in this month's edition of Spirit and Destiny, having been given the honour of a free psychic artist experience, Patrick Gamble had painted a picture of my mum's Gran, I believe, who was called Mary, I always get her confused with my Gran, and my Dad also had a Gran called Mary. The reason I get confused with these women in spirit is because I didn't have a lot of information about them as I was growing up, I just know that there are two women in spirit who are both called Mary, one is my mum's gran and the other could be my dad's mum or his gran, I am not sure. I am sure about the painting though and I enjoyed the message from the medium. I also had a conversation with a woman in church about her recent loss, it reminded me of the Counselling class I used to be part of. I studied Basic Counselling,Intermediate Counselling and Foundation Counselling. Yes, maybe this is a path I should continue?  I committed to finding out about the course. It would take another two years, it is a long journey to step out onto, but, really, after a degree with the Open University which took years, what is another two years? I have committed to being a lifelong learner, so what is there to lose?  I made the necessary enquiries and found myself sitting in Basildon College reception, waiting for the course leader to return from lunch.

Naturally I struck up conversation with another woman, also waiting. I wondered if we were waiting for the same person? No, she said she was waiting for Robert. I told her she had reminded me of my brother Robert, in Spirit, we both acknowledged the coincidence, which for me, obviously, holds personal meaning.

Off I went, to interview for the course, followed by an enrolment with a team of admin people in Basildon, ten miles from  my home town of Southend, where the course is actually held. The young lady who took my form exclaimed 'You live in my road'. Yes, ten miles from home, I found myself having the admin for my counselling course carried out by one of my neighbours. Turns out, the young lady lives in the house with the chickens, three doors down the road from where I live. I usually stop and chat with her mum about Daisy the chicken and I always say hello when we pass in the street. It really is such a small world, but the coincidence was one of those times which just confirms for me that I am in the right place at the right time.

Lots of love and light to everyone who needs it.

Grateful for every day

If all you did was just look for things to appreciate you would live a joyous, spectacular life.

If there was nothing else that you ever came to understand other than just look for things to appreciate, it's the only tool you would ever need to predominantly hook you up with who you really are. That's all you'd need.
---Abraham

Yes, at last, a simple quote I can absolutely understand and agree with.  Do you know that there have been brilliant people on this planet, those with magnificent minds who have still struggled with the existential questions. Questions such as 'why are we here?' 'what is the purpose of life?' you know, those sort of questions.

This monkey mind business, the way most of us westerners live our lives, wandering around with chattering, often untamed, monkey minds is probably a recipe for confusion, disorder and definitely a source of unhappiness.  So, I guess, training the mind is probably the single, most important thing we can set out to do for ourselves.  Learning to be happy, it is what those enlightened people call 'living in the moment' or 'living in the Now' with a capital N.

Could it really be true that just by being appreciative can bring a spectacular life?  Well, I suppose that depends on what you call spectacular, or maybe it is the appreciation that colours the extraordinary into the ordinary. Maybe it is the final part of the quotation that matters, hooking up with who you really are.  There it is.  Who you really are.  There is the mystery.

The part of the quote which hints at the possibility of something more, as yet undiscovered, a part of ourselves we all need to seek out, engage with, enjoy, a way to empower ourselves, our greater selves can hook up with the little me who is running around with a monkey mind, often in terror and distress at trying to make sense of it all.

Yes, there is a bigger picture. Using appreciation and gratitude is a well known tool for helping to rise above the lower negative states, if nothing else, by stepping out into the world on a vibration of appreciation and gratitude will at least make life more pleasant for those people surrounding us.  Even if we find ourselves meeting people who hate us even more because we are appearing to be happy.

When you think about it, what right has anyone got not to be happy?  No-one has a right to life. Any one of us can have our life taken away at any moment. Life is too short not to experience some form of inner happiness and joy, and life is definitely too short to spend it hating other people because they have a smile on their face.

Smiling in the face of hatred.

Lots of love and light to everyone who needs it.

Recognising damaging behaviour patterns

If you get a diagnosis that is not what you want to hear, the tendency is to say,

"Oh, my god! How did I get so far away from something I want so much?"

And we say, it isn't big like that at all — it's just a series of little things.

It is the, "I could choose this thought which feels good, or this thought which doesn't feel so good. But I've developed a pattern for what doesn't feel good. And so, it is the daily dose of not being in the receiving mode that keeps me not in the receiving mode."

And that's all that it is!
---Abraham

Developing a pattern of what doesn't feel good.  Yes, I can understand that.  The idea that drinking a tea every morning is comforting and something I need to start my day. I believe the waker upper is doing me good. When in fact, the habitual welcome of hot sugary tea is actually outweighed by the general feeling of ill health which has crept up on me over the years.

Anyone who has been chocolate, sugar, red-bull, cigarette or *insert your own particular form of poison* dependant will know what I am talking about. The false idea that a daily dose of the required comfort food, drink, substance  is a necessary element in order to feel satisfied.

In fact, the familiar feeling is so far below how we could be feeling, but we have developed a pattern, an addiction,a craving for what doesn't feel good.  This is also true in a metaphysical sense. Life events that don't feel good, but we recognise the feeling and so we head in that direction. We have nowhere else to go. Our inner compass can only take us one way because we haven't re-adjusted our emotional Sat Nav. We haven't polished up our inner being, there is no awareness that another level of improved, better feeling vibration/emotion exists, so what choice do we have? At that time, we don't have a choice.  Not really. Not unless someone grabs us by the elbow and says 'What are you doing?', and even then, we may not listen.

I don't know what causes each individual to stop and take a look around their inner workings. Getting in touch with their feelings and suddenly choosing to let it all hang out or go to therapy or take some time to work on themselves. I guess that is just a very individual choice.  How far down a person goes is their own personal rock bottom and clearly this has to be worse for some people than others, because we are not all the same.  There is no commonly recognised standard under which we can slip and be grabbed by other people, or find someone or something to cling to so we don't sink completely.  Well, some of us manage it, others do sink, they drown completely and often go off the rails for years, sometimes never to return.

So, just to let you know, dear Blogger Reader, if you are feeling bad, negative, or have any undesirable feeling going on within you at the moment, please know that this can change. It doesn't happen by accident, you have control over what is happening and going on for you.  It all starts with an admission and an improved level of self awareness, the situation where you recognise that you are not happy.  That is where the work begins. Make no mistake, it doesn't happen overnight. How can it? The emotional state you are experiencing didn't arrive overnight, it developed or deteriorated over weeks, months, possibly years. But know this, it can be undone. You can alter your thinking and change your unwanted behaviour.

Lots of love and light to everyone who is in the process of recognising their own damaging behaviour patterns. Here is wishing you the strength and determination to improve your own little corner of the world.
